Enchanting Excerpt:
December 2013
The weather forecast for the Western Washington area, specifically North Seattle, predicted a good five-to-six inches of snow. Brenda Houser watched the flakes float like cotton balls from the sky as she dipped a tortilla chip into a bowl of thick and chunky salsa and popped the morsel into her mouth.
Her boss, Corny Myers, tapped her pencil on Brenda's reception desk to the beat of The Little Drummer Boy, which streamed from the Green Hornet Investigations Bose speakers.
"Hey, Brenda. I have bad eating habits but I've never started the day with chips and salsa. What's up?" Corny asked.
"You know how I feel about all the holiday hoopla. I'd rather stick my head in the sand and pull it back out in January."
"Do you really think Mexican food is going to make you feel better?"
"Probably not, but a couple margaritas might help."

Halo's Wish
Book one of the
Dreams Come True Series
Author:
Sharon KleveGenre: Mainstream Romance
Buy: Amazon
Halo Ann Carlyle wishes for
a home, family, and a boat-load of pets. What she gets is a bruised hip, a lump
on the head, a broken ankle, and her new yellow Honda Civic is demolished.
Rich McFarland, a sexy
veterinarian, keeps showing up in the most unexpected places, promising
everything she's ever wanted.
Halo believes she only has
time to pursue her career as a pet detective and must ignore her growing
attraction to achieve her dreams.
Will Halo trust her heart,
and find a way to get both for Christmas?
Enchanting Excerpt:
She'd just
placed another call through to Pemsky's office, which went straight to his voicemail,
when the office door opened. Halo smiled and looked up into dreamy,
gold-flecked green eyes, short sandy brown hair, a slight cleft chin, and full
lips set in a hard line. Even with the stern look he had on his face, my
hormones jumped into overdrive.
Mr. Dreamy
cleared his throat—she must've been staring. In her most professional voice she
said, "Good morning. How may I help you?"
He removed a
piece of paper from his shirt pocket and unfolded the sheet.
"I was
parked in front of the Beacon Hill Ale House and my driver's side mirror was
sideswiped by one of Pemsky's Security's SUV's Friday night."
Halo loved the
Beacon Hill Ale House. Every Saturday night the Ale House allowed local bands
to jam together. That's where she'd met her last loser boyfriend. She'd had a lot of loser boyfriends. She's
currently on a hiatus from dating, but she wouldn't mind jumping back into the
dating game for this dream-boat.
He handed her
the piece of paper.
"I wasn't
able to get a look at the driver, but I got the license plate number of the
vehicle that hit my car and drove away."
He emphasized
the last part.
"I'm very
sorry about your car. I'm sure Mr. Pemsky will be happy to cover the
damage." Halo checked the company log and Pemsky's name popped up as the
driver—she gulped.

Santa to the Rescue
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Buy: Entangled Publishing
Firefighter Jamey Tucker knows three things in life to be true: An honorable man doesn't go back on his word, never hurts a woman, and lasting love isn't a myth. But with his recent move to a new job at the Appleton Fire station, the long hours don't offer hope of finding the love he’s looking for.
When Jamey meets beautiful pediatric nurse Heather Longhurst after hearing her sing Santa Baby in a supermarket aisle, he offers her a promise he discovers he can't keep. Heather has been betrayed by men in the past, making it hard for Jamey to gain her trust. Determined to find a way to win her heart, Jamey uses firefighter engine-uity and Heather's favorite song to prove he's got Christmas spirit she can believe in all year.
Enchanting Excerpt:
She laughed out loud this time, and the sound of her voice rang through the air, pure and clear. He could listen to that voice for hours. “These are for my kids at the hospital. I’m an R.N. at County. We’re decorating the pediatric ward. And spoiling the children too, a bit. I’m baking cookies for our holiday party on Saturday.”
She held out her hand for a handshake. “I’m Heather Longhurst.”
Jamey introduced himself and took her hand. He told her what he did and where he worked. Her skin felt soft against his palm, though her grasp conveyed confidence and strength.
He cocked his chin. “What kind of cookies?”
“Chocolate chip, of course. Is there any other kind?”
Jamey shook his head. He could almost taste melted dark chocolate and smell the aromas of fresh baked flour, eggs and sugar filling her kitchen. His mouth watered. He hoped she couldn’t hear his stomach rumble. He hadn’t eaten in over fourteen hours. “No ma’am.”
Heather returned a lopsided grin. “You’re not from around here, are you?”
“Southern Indiana, born and raised.”
She moved out of the way of an elderly couple trying to pass with their half-filled shopping cart. Jamey moved too and they strolled together toward the exit. “I’ll make a plate of cookies for you, if you stop by the hospital to pick it up.” She said.
Jamey smiled at her, his heart lifting at the turnaround in his day. “That’s the best offer I’ve had since I moved to Appleton.”
“You’re new in town?”
“Been here almost three months.”
“Glad to meet you, Jamey Tucker. See you about one o’clock?”
“I’ll be there. Count on it.”
“I will.” She smiled back and their gazes locked. His mood soared with the realization she was flirting with him. The day had definitely taken a turn for the better.

Once
Tantalizing
Thursday
Excerpt
Author: M.S. Kaye
Genre: Inspirational Romance
Buy: Jupiter Garden Press
Excerpt:
“What’s the answer?”
He paused. “A
switchblade.”
With my fingertips, I
reached out and traced the scar across his cheek. “Did you win?”
He removed my hand and
closed his eyes. “Yes.”
I slid his Book back to
him. “This says we can find forgiveness.”
His eyes still closed,
his jaw clenched. He bowed his head. “It also says ‘Thou shalt not kill.’”
I took his hand in both
of mine, petted his rough skin, and then brought it to my lips. He had a talent
for guiding invisibly, but I didn’t know how to do that.
He watched me again. His
eyes were intense, like the black of the night sky, and his forehead was
furrowed, as if his emotions were scattered, as if he was shocked at my
reaction, as if he had been sure his answer would drive me away. But I knew
him. Already, I knew him.
“You’re still a good
person,” I said.
His jaw clenched. “I’ve
been trying to believe that.”
“I have faith in you.”
He continued to watch
me. His forehead never smoothed, as if he was fighting for strength, but his
eyes softened. He slid around the booth, closer to me.
I didn’t move, not sure
what to do, what was right, what he wanted.
He leaned closer.
I only watched him.
He touched his lips to
my cheek, the faintest pressure. I struggled to sit still, to keep my hands in
my lap, not to grab hold of him. And then his lips were gone, such brief
contact that I couldn’t be sure if he had actually kissed my cheek or if I wanted
his contact so much that I imagined it.
He spoke in my ear. “You
must be some kind of final test.”
My heart pounded into my
ribs, against the point of the blade. “Are you going to pass?”
His lips brushed against
my jaw. “I don’t know.”
He trailed to my neck,
his mouth softly pressing. My hand curled into his hair, the other on his
shoulder, holding, clutching. His mouth found mine, barely touching. His warmth
invaded my head.
“God give me strength,” he
murmured.
The door slid open, and
the compartment filled with laughter.
He closed his eyes. Then he slid away from me.
