Changing the Future

Book CoverPaula Martin

Lisa Marshall is stunned when celebrated volcanologist Paul Hamilton comes back into her life at the college where she now teaches. Despite their acrimonious break-up several years earlier, they soon realise the magnetic attraction between them is stronger than ever. However, the past is still part of the present, not least when Paul discovers Lisa has a young son. They can’t change that past, but will it take a volcanic eruption to help them change the future?

  1. Bought it, read it, enjoyed it. Kind of a nice change to read something based in England.

  2. I love it when former lovers get back together. This reinforces my belief in happy ever after despite a host of twists and turns. Ms. Martin's new book does this in spades! I recommend it highly.

  3. Dear Paula,

Your stories have a way of homing in on the inner heart and exploring all the twists and wonderments that lovers go through. I'm sure that this one, like Fragrance of Violets, will make its way to my bookshelf and my heart.

Wishing you much success, ever your friend

  6. Changing the Future was a very good story! It was somewhat different, as I had little knowledge about volcanoes. Didn't matter though, Paula told me enough, and the rest had no effect on understanding the plot. Lisa and Paul made a great couple, and I'm so glad they got back together. Good job, Paula!

  7. Thanks, Celia - glad my volcano 'research' sounded authentic! Lisa and Paul struggled, but eventually deserved their happy ending :-)

    1. Thanks so much, Nancy! There are definitely a lot of sparks, not to mention a huge eruption!

  9. A terrific blurb that really makes me want to read the book. The reexamination of an old relationship and the possible rekindling of love is a tantalising propsect. To extend the volcanic metaphor, I guess there'll be some heat, not to mention eruptions between the two protagonists, as well as geologically.

    1. Thanks, Gilli - and yes, although I didn't actually realise while I was writing it, the metaphor is there thoughout the story as the sleeping volcano awakes!

  10. Paula, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were well-drawn, the plot kept me turning pages, and the book was obviously well-researched. It was a new and refreshing twist to love second time around. I highly recommend it.
